"I have fit Henry-Griffitts golf
equipment since 1998 and believe that it is the best feeling and
performing equipment in the golf industry. I discovered the
Henry-Griffitts fitting system after my days as a full time
player. After associating myself with the Henry-Griffitts
company, I realized I spent many years attempting to fit my
swing to various pieces of equipment. Now that I have equipment
that fits my swing, I have total confidence in my clubs. As a
teaching professional, I want the best for my students so I fit
Henry-Griffitts clubs to make a difference."

Henry-Griffitts Precision Club
Construction
Steel shafts - All steel
shafts are sorted by gram weight and all shafts that weigh
outside of weight tolerance are returned to shaft manufacture
for credit. H-G will use the same weight shafts throughout the
set of clubs for each customer and the weight of the shaft used
is documented under the customer name in our data base for
future matching orders.
Graphite shafts - All
graphite shafts are sorted by frequency cycles and when building
a set of graphite clubs we will use the same starting frequency
throughout the set. The starting frequency is also documented
under the customer name in our data base. All shafts that
frequency outside our frequency tolerance is returned to the
graphite manufacture for credit.
Cutting of golf shafts -
Henry-Griffitts, Inc. has the tightest frequency tolerances
throughout a set of clubs than any other manufacture in the
industry. From the longest club to the shortest club the
frequency will only increase by 1 to 2 cycles between each club,
in most manufactures their frequency will increase by 4 to 5
cycles between each club. What this means in a set of club is
that instead of up to a 32 cycle change in a set of clubs, H-G’s
sets of clubs will only have up to a 15 cycle change from
longest to the shortest club. It only takes 15 cycles to make a
different shaft flex, meaning there is at lest two different
shafts flexes in a typical non H-G set of clubs. H-G’s length
tolerance when cutting shafts is plus or minus a 1/16”.
Iron Heading - Five
Irons in the H-G demo’s all weigh between 254 grams to 256
grams, so when we are building a set of irons we always start
with a 5 iron that matches the weight of the demo 5 iron and
then match the other clubs to that 5 iron swing weight. Swing
weight tolerance in a set of H-G clubs is plus or minus a ½
swing weight based off the average swing weight throughout the
set. Half a swing weight is 1 gram in head weight. This is the
first of three swing weight checks we do during the club
building process, and it’s called the head swing weight. The
head swing weight is recorded under the customer’s name in our
data base for future matches. All iron heads that come into the
H-G plant are sorted into bins by gram weight.
Wood Heading - Using hot
melt special glue all heads that come into the H-G plant are
weighted up to a gram weight that matches the woods in the demo
systems. When heading woods we will swing out each wood and
document those swing weights under the customer’s name in our
data base. Swing weight tolerance is plus or minus a ½ swing
weight.
Iron Bending - Every
iron head is put into our iron loft and lie machine, and matched
to the loft and lie angles provided by the fitter. H-G’s
tolerance on lofts and lies is plus or minus a ½°. Henry-Griffitts,
Inc. has a lie angle range from 8° flat to 6° up, and a range on
lofts from 2° strong to 3° weak off of standard lofts.
Wood Bending - The H-G
drivers are not bendable since they are a titanium head, but we
still check lie angles and face angles to make sure they match
the demo system wood heads. If a driver falls out side of the
H-G tolerance, we will return it to the manufacture to be bent
back to the H-G tolerance. Since H-G’s tolerance on face angle
is plus or minus ½°, and the head manufactures tolerance is plus
or minus 1½°, H-G will have to pay a special price to have it
moved back to our tolerance, although there are times when the
face angle will come in outside the head manufactures
tolerances, those would be adjusted for free. H-G’s fairway
woods are all adjusted for both face angle and lie angle.
H-G bends both the face angles
and lies from 3° flat to 3° up. Tolerance on these two angles is
plus or minus ½°.
SST PURING - The purring
process is done after the shafts have been cut to length, and is
done to put the shaft in a stable position. H-G is the only golf
club manufacture that offers purring in the golf club assembly
line. H-G gives the fitter the option of having a club purred on
the weak side for higher ball flight or on the stiff side for
lower ball flight. By purring a shaft we can assure the customer
that the shaft will not influence left or right ball flight
because the shaft will be epoxy into a neutral position.
EPOXY - H-G adds 1 gram
of epoxy to every club to assure a life-long epoxy bond. This is
also another area during the club building process that we check
the swing weight on each club to make sure they are all within
H-G’s swing weight tolerance; this is called the epoxy swing
weight. Also during the epoxy process H-G will use a fine sand
to help center the shaft into the hosel of each golf head. The
epoxy swing weight is documented under the customer’s name in
the data base for future match orders.
Grip Build Up - Using 2”
wide build up tape, H-G will build up each grip to match the
customer’s needs. H-G’s grip sizes range from -1/32 under too
+1/16 over. Since the butt size on golf shafts vary H-G has a
special build up chart that shows the amount of build up wraps
it will take to match the requested grip sizes.
Gripping - All grips
that come into the H-G plant are sorted by the gram weight. A
box of the same style grips can range from 49 grams to 56 grams.
It is important to use the same weight grip on all the clubs
throughout the set so the swing weights stay the same. Once the
grip type is selected the gripper will document the gram weight
of the grip used in our data base under the customer’s name.
After the grip is placed on the club and aligned, we will then
swing weight out each club for the 3RD time, this is called the
final swing weight. The final swing weight is also documented
under the customer name in the data base for future orders.
Final Check - All clubs
go through final check before shipping out to the customers,
each club is checked vs. the specification sheet to make sure
the club was built correctly; we also look for any cosmetic
flaws. If the club passes inspection a customer name tag is
placed on the clubs, and shipped out. Clubs usually go out
within 3 days of when order was placed.
HG Beliefs
Professional golfers recognize the foundations of performance.
For decades, touring professionals have insisted that
manufacturers custom fit their clubs, the tools of their
demanding trade, to their specific body types and swing motions.
Tournament players and club pros understand that consistent
results are not possible without an unshakeable confidence in
their equipment. Customized equipment provides that confidence.
It's a given; they wouldn't dream of buying mass-produced clubs
off the rack.
For 21 years, Henry-Griffitts has asked, "Why should you?"
Henry-Griffitts,
Inc. was founded on the premise that players of all abilities
tangibly benefit from custom-fitted golf equipment. Since 1983,
this Hayden, Idaho-based firm has delivered more than the
world's premier fitted clubs - it has continually delivered the
confidence that golfers of all abilities seek. Henry-Griffitts
knows what golf professionals have always known: On-course
performance is maximized when clubs are custom fit, then
meticulously manufactured to the tightest specifications in
golf. Because it delivers these foundations of performance,
Henry-Griffitts delivers confidence.
We believe that:
Equipment Affects Motion® - We believe that the Teacher can use the
golf club to make beneficial and lasting changes in students'
motion. Simply, equipment that fits - improves the golf swing.
The equipment should be integral to your motion promoting a
sound and repeatable swing.
We Value Teachers - HG believes only golf professionals and golf
teachers, trained in the HG methodology and using HG fittings
tools, can effectively fit golf clubs to players of all
abilities. To match specific club characteristics to individual
swing motions and body types is a painstaking, highly nuanced
blend of art and science.
Ball Flight is Dynamic - When a student can see and understand their
ball flight, learning will take place. It is imperative that the
teaching be undertaken outdoors where the feedback from changes
in the configuration of the equipment can immediately be
visualized. This feedback is used iteratively by the teacher to
best tailor the equipment to individual swing motions.
Balance is Fundamental - Balance is the way HG approaches life and
the game. Balance is exhibited by a solid swing that starts and
finishes in a controlled, smooth effortless and coordinated
motion. Balance in the body and club are intrinsically connected
- at address, during take-away, at the top of the swing, through
impact, at the finish. Without equipment that is finely crafted
and configured to your unique swing motion, balance cannot be
achieved in a repeatable, reliable form.
Precision Makes Perfect - HG Certified Teachers strive to find the
single best equipment configuration for their students. HG
provides our Certified Teachers with our patented
Inter-Changeable System (ICS) that empowers the teacher with an
unprecedented 6,500 different club combinations. Alternative
systems typically feature 20 to 30 demonstration clubs of
various lies, shafts, lengths and flexes. Each golf swing is
like a fingerprint in that it is totally unique to every student
- 14 key golf club characteristics are manipulated and evaluated
throughout the lesson. It is this level of precision that the
ICS system puts at the fingertips of the teacher. The precision
involved during the lesson is continued through production with
each club component weighted and measured to the gram, the
tightest tolerances in the industry.
Feedback is Fundamental - Improvement comes from feedback. HG has its
very foundations routed in the value of highly quality
consistent feedback through the dynamic observation of ball
flight. HG rigorously applies the value of feedback throughout
the company, from our Certified Teaching Professionals, our
students, and ourselves.
Adopt New Technology - We strive to introduce and discover new
means of improving our ability to match swing with the perfect
fit. While we recognize that teaching is a blend of "art and
science" we are constantly looking for improvements and
technology to further enhance a students' confidence.
Build Long-Term Relationships - HG seeks long-term relationships with
employees, golf professionals, customers and suppliers. Golf is
a passion, a life long game - just as people build a
relationship with their doctors, our HG Certified Teaching
Professionals duty is to improve your confidence in your golf
game, for life.
